The Doctoral Colloquium (DC) seeks to provide a friendly, supportive, and constructive environment where Ph.D students can present their research in progress for an open discussion guided by a panel of experienced researchers. The Doctoral Colloquium is structured as a series of short presentations by the students followed by an individual discussions, feedback and advice from the panel.

Doctoral Colloquium Categories:

Doctoral Colloquium invites research summary in the following two categories:

I. Early Researcher: Doctoral students who have not completed two years from their Ph.D. registration date.

II. Advance Researcher: Those who have completed more than 2 years from registration date and those who have NOT completed 1 year from degree awarded.

PhD students in the early stages of their career are encouraged to submit a 2-pages research summary describing the work in progress and including a 200-word abstract.

Format of research Summary include following:

I. Title, name, affiliation and contact information; name of dissertation adviser(s);

II. An introduction to the research (problem definition, research motivations, background and literature review);

III. Method used and proposed solution (idea, existing and planned proposals, innovative aspects of the solution);

IV. Current status of the research and expected results;

V. Plans to complete the research; and expected contributions.

Things to consider for inclusion in the research summary might be: the expected contribution to the field; the original idea or thesis statement; the problem domain and the specific problem addressed; a brief overview of related work; the methodological approach; research carried out and results so far.

Students participating in Advance Researcher category should submit executive summary of the work done and future planning. The student should be the sole author, although contributions of the advisor and others should be acknowledged. The Doctoral Colloquium committee will review submissions to ensure quality, relevance, and potential benefit from attendance. Authors of accepted submissions are expected to participate in person to the Doctoral Colloquium.

Track 3: Technology Trends
Track 4: Artificial Intelligence and Robotics
Track 5: Machine Vision, Image Processing and Bioinformatics
Track 6: Security and Privacy

Objective:

Doctoral Colloquium (DC) provides an opportunity for Ph.D Students across the world to present their work to their peers and mentors, who are experienced supervisors and leading scholars in their field, and engage with one another in a setting that is relatively informal but that allows for meaningful and constructive scholarly exchanges.
The aim of the Doctoral Colloquium is to contribute towards a transformative journey for doctoral students, who will not only receive feedback on their doctoral research but also learn about fundamentals of a doctoral journey including research methods related matters, publishing from a PhD and reviewing for journals, and obtain advice on academic career paths. DC is an entry point into joining a wider community of peers and engaged scholars.
